Wirral and Chester RDA Group operate from Wirral Riding Centre at Ness, Wirral, CH64 8TA. We are the largest Group in the North West and offer riding to anyone over the age of 5 providing they are able to weight-bear, even if only for a few minutes, as we do not have a hoist.
Our principal objective is to provide disabled people in the Wirral and Chester area with the opportunity to ride to benefit their health and wellbeing at the level of their ability, choice and ambition.
We operate Tuesday to Friday with some evenings at certain times of the year. We have the use of approximately 16 horses and ponies some of which can carry up to 13 stone (dressed and ready to ride weight).
As we have been operating as an RDA Group since 1969 we feel we are able to help riders improve their riding skills and offer a chance to enjoy a new hobby whilst helping to improve confidence, general health and wellbeing.
All riders are provided with a volunteer to lead their horse and depending on the rider's disability one or two further volunteers walk at either side of the rider. All rides are of a half-hour duration. All instructors are BHS and RDA trained.
